The Green Pipe manufactures pipe made from 100 per cent recycled plastic – almost entirely from household collected post-consumer milk and orange juice grade bottles.

Based in Moama, The Green Pipe has been widely recognised as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative for stormwater and drainage systems.

The products are made of a high-density polyethylene, including a minimum of 95 per cent food grade containers, to replace concrete, fiber cement and other piping products in civil, agricultural and forestry applications.

Current capacity enables The Green Pipe to produce up to six different pipe diameters simultaneously and can typically produce 450 metres of pipe per day consuming around 150,000 milk bottles in the process. This also happens on-site to secure the quality and availability of the raw material.

Commencing marketing activity to the rural sector of south-eastern Australia in 1999, The Green Pipe rapidly evolved to become a major supplier to both the rural and forestry industries of drainage pipe and crossings, leading to an expansion of activities to cover all states and territories through over 250 distributors serviced by 12 Pipe storage depots by 2002.

The Green Pipe brand was established after extensive product research was conducted leading to the successful development and production of a pipe possessing properties offering stiffness ratings more traditionally associated with concrete and PVC pipes and tensile toughness more appropriate to High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes.

Using 100 per cent recycled raw materials sourced primarily from kerbside collection and a unique low energy manufacturing process, the pipe has a carbon footprint of approximately 50 per cent of competitive virgin products. This coupled with its lightweight and ease of nesting and handling for transportation adds further to this energy saving attribute.

The Green Pipe is manufactured in 6 metre lengths in 6 different diameters which creates fewer joints during installation, improves laying rates and minimises potential leakage points. The highest-level acidic soils have no effect on the pipe, so once installed it will last indefinitely.
